- Keep your videos short. Short, focused videos lasting 6 minutes or less tend to be more effective for learning than extended lectures.
- Prepare a storyboard or script (both if needed) for students who have different learning styles.
Preparation
- Plan your course video
- Determine the main goal of your video.
- Consider using existent materials such as presentations, videos, readings.
- Remove or hide any visible branding that may be inappropriate.
- Close any notifications on presenting computer.
- Use your phone in silent mode.
- Put on neutral or blank-colored cloths preferably light colors. The color green is forbidden for clothing because of green screen technology.
- Avoid patterned clothes.
- Avoid jewelry that is highly reflective or makes noise when you move.
While Recording
- Talk in a conversational manner.
- Speak with high enthusiasm.
- Do not mention current events and dates because it limits re-use.
- Keep principles in mind:
- Multiple representation principle
- Contiguity principle
- Split-attention principle
