Google Analytics is a web analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic. Google Analytics aggregates the data collected from your website in multiple ways, primarily by four levels:
User level (related to actions by each user)
Session level (each individual visit)
Pageview level (each individual page visited)
Event level (button clicks, video views, etc)
The Audience reports provide insight into characteristics of your users.
Overview
The audience overview report is an overview of the absolute basic performance data a website owner will find of interest.
Users
Users refer to a single visit by an individual.
New Users
A new user is one who is visiting your site for the first time (during a specific period).
Sessions
A session is the number of visits overall during a specific period.
Number of sessions per user
This refers to the average number of sessions per user.
Page Views
Page views refer to the total number of pages viewed overall for all visits, including multiple visits to the page by the same visitor.
Pages/Sessions
Pages per session refer to the average number of pages each visitor views per session, this includes repeat visits to a page.
Avg Session Duration
Average session duration refers to the average time a visitor spent on the site during each session.
Bounce Rate
The bounce rate refers to a visitor who visits only 1 page on your website and then leaves without viewing another page.
Locations
The locations report can be found under Demographics in the Audience section. GA uses the visitors’ IP addresses and where internet providers assign those ranges to find the location.
Sessions by device
It provides a reports and dimensions in which you can use to identify and analyze your mobile/desktop traffic.
