Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) self-service password reset (SSPR) provides users with the ability to change or reset their password without admin or help desk support. You can reset or change your password using the authentication method you determined with the system generated code.

How do I get it?

You must choose 3 authentication methods to activate the Self-Service Password Reset feature on your account.

The default authentication method for the SSPR page is by default your GSM number. You need to notify inform the IT Department of any changes to your GSM number changes and change the numberupdate it.

You must specify at least 2 of the 3 authentication methods on the page https://aka.ms/ssprsetup.

You must specify at least 2 authentication methods. It is recommended that you set as many methods as you can, but it is not mandatory.

The authentication methods are as follows:

  • Authentication Phone (Personal GSM number)

  • Authentication Email (Personal Email address)

  • Security questions (You need to answer the 5 security questions. If you cannot use the above authentication methods, you must enter the answer to 3 of the 5 questions.)

Authentication Phone

From the Additional security authentication screen, enter your country code and GSM number without a zero at the beginning by adjusting the following settings.

  • Select "Send me a code by text message" as the method.

  • Your authentication code will be sent to your phone via SMS. Enter the code you received on the screen below and confirm.

  • You can pass the Application Password field with the “Done” button. This is valid for old version applications used.

  • Skip the “Stay signed in” screen by clicking Yes.

  • Re-enter your current KU NetID password.

  • After entering your password, enter and confirm the SMS code that will be sent to your phone.

  • Click on the authentication link next to your GSM number.

  • Click the "Set them up now" link to set the security questions.

How to change Authentication Methods?

The authentication method for the SSPR page is by default your GSM number. You need to notify the IT Department of your GSM number changes and change the number.

Login to https://aka.ms/ssprsetup with your KU NetID and password. You can change it by clicking the "Change" link next to the authentication method you want to change.

  • You can change the GSM number after you receive the code sent to the GSM number you have previously specified.
  • You can change the email address after you receive the authentication code sent to the email address you previously specified.
