There are 17 types of questions in the test tool. Most of the question types can be graded automatically. Essay, file response, and short answer types of questions should be graded manually.

There are two ways to see and grade students’ submission. The first one is through the Need Grading area. 

How to Grade a Test in the Needs Grading Area

  1. Click Grade Center on the Control Panel.
  2. Click Needs Grading.


3. The Needs Grading screen appears. Click on user names in the User Attempt column to grade them.

  • For the manually graded question types, you should type the grade and click Save and Exit. You have the option to write feedback to students.


How to Grade a Test in the Full Grade Center Area

Second way to grade a test is through the  Full Grade Center area. To access,

  1. Click Grade Center on the Control Panel.
  2. Click Full Grade Center.

3. The Full Grade Center appears. The yellow icon means there is a submission that needs to be graded. Click the arrow icon to see the options for the submission and click View Grade Details.


4. Click View Attempts or Grade Attempt to see the Grade Test screen.


5. Type or change the score for the questions that need to be graded and click Submit.
